The striped triggerfish inhabits rocky areas and coral reefs down to a depth of 100 meters. There are many brown longitudinal lines on the upper half of its body. It has a distinctive beautiful red tail fin. It mainly feeds on zooplankton. It is not usually eaten in Okinawa.
